PERSPECTIVES: Saving Lincoln

Louie talks with Nina Litvak, co-writer, and Salvador Litvak, co-writer and director of the film "Saving Lincoln," a film which tells the story of the friendship between President Abraham Lincoln and his self-appointed bodyguard Ward Hall Lamon.  They talk about why Lamon was so trusted by the president, and why he wasn't by the president's side when Lincoln was assassinated. Sal Litvak also explains how he was able to shoot scenes from the film "inside" vintage photos. The Litvaks talk about how their first attempt to make a Lincoln film was derailed with the announcement that Stephen Spielberg was ALSO going to make a Lincoln film.  www.savinglincoln.com.    Aired April 6, 2013.
