Prisoners are also used by slaughterhouses to work on the kill line as it can be difficult to find anyone else to do that dreadful work. Canada also uses prison labor for agriculture. On Animal Concerns of Texas, Greg, Liz and Tom talk with Calvin Neufeld, founder ofEvolve Our Prison Farmsabout the organization’s efforts to transition Canada’s prison farms away from animal agriculture to plant-based agriculture.
Evolve Our Prison Farms has been active since 2016 advocating an alternative, ethical, and environmentally friendly prison farm program through plant-based agriculture and animal-assisted therapy.
