A lawsuit filed by civil rights groups over Texas redistricting maps two years ago is on trial in an El Paso federal court. The city of El Paso held a ribbon-cutting ceremony after completing phase two of an expansion project at the Eastside Sports Complex.

Attorneys with the El Paso Immigrant Defense Bar say the Trump administration’s expedited removal of immigrants from the country denies them full process under the law.

The Socorro Independent School District school board began its process to hire a permanent superintendent Monday night. Protests over recent immigration raids have spread from Los Angeles to cities across the country — including here in Texas.

The county commissioners court voted to approve the reduction of public bus service in Socorro after the city opted not to join the countywide program. Commissioners voted to ban the sale of fireworks with skyrockets and sticks in unincorporated areas of the county for the Fourth of July season.
