Concerns about a new detention center in far East El Paso are growing. Voting rights advocates are warning, President Trump could try to take over the 2026 midterm elections.

The Federal Aviation Administration lifted a temporary flight restriction grounding flights in the El Paso area. The Trump administration says it took action after a quote “cartel drone incursion.”

Most members of the El Paso state delegation signed on to a letter challenging the Texas Education Agency’s proposed consequences for schools and districts where students conduct walkout protests. Students in El Paso said they’ve led protests at the end of school days denouncing ICE operations in the area and across the country.
