  • Concerns about a new detention center in far East El Paso are growing. Voting rights advocates are warning, President Trump could try to take over the 2026 midterm elections.
  • The Federal Aviation Administration lifted a temporary flight restriction grounding flights in the El Paso area. The Trump administration says it took action after a quote “cartel drone incursion.”
  • Most members of the El Paso state delegation signed on to a letter challenging the Texas Education Agency’s proposed consequences for schools and districts where students conduct walkout protests. Students in El Paso said they’ve led protests at the end of school days denouncing ICE operations in the area and across the country.
  • With a unanimous vote, the El Paso County Commissioners Court has committed to a project that would connect Bob Hope Drive to Gateway and Loop 375 on the East Side.
  • Commissioners with the Texas Railroad Commission OK’d a proposed rate increase for Texas Gas Service customers in El Paso. City officials had argued El Pasoans will bear the brunt of costs for the utility compared to other users in Texas Gas’s proposed merged markets.
