Super Tuesday meant victory for some candidates running for El Paso County offices. Jackie Arroyo Butler defeated opponent Pete Faraone for the seat representing a portion of East and Far East El Paso in the county. In the sheriff’s race, Oscar Ugarte received nearly 44 percent of the total 35,472 votes cast in the primary. The ACLU of Texas is warning that if the U.S. Supreme Court allows the state's new anti-immigration law to go into effect, people will be rounded up, arrested and possibly deported for just appearing like an unauthorized border crosser.
