Approximately 9.5 million hogs are raised in North Carolina each year, producing 10 billion gallons of waste annually. But where does all that waste go? On ACT Radio, Liz and Tom talk with Jamie Berger, writer and producer of the film The Smell of Money, about one community's fight for clean water, good health, and a life without the stench of manure.

Jamie Berger discusses attending an environmental class, where she learned about the environmental impact of animal agriculture. She continued her education with a degree in Food Studies with an internship in the dairy industry and later conducted research on the pork industry.
