Over twenty years ago a small indie horror film launched the career of one filmmaker who now calls El Paso home, Lucky Mckee's 2002 film "May". For many horror aficionados, it remains a favorite film of the 2000s and a cult classic. Host Charles Horak recently caught up with him On Film.

The film was featured in the Sundance Festival in 2002. The indie film deals with the angst and anxiety that comes from loneliness and feeling misunderstood in your community, which, mixed with the overall dark magic nature of the film and the psychological thriller elements make this a horrifying, yet relatable story. The now cult classic film has been released on Blue-Ray.

Charles Horak didn't sleep much as a child, preferring instead to watch movies on late night TV. Not much has changed since then, except that he now shares his life-long passion for movies with others. Horak's association with On Film began in the summer of 2002 when he was interviewed by the show's originator, Cynthia Haines. In the summer of 2005, Horak took over for Haines as host of the show.
Sam Cassiano is a native Californian who spent his formative years in the Bay Area. An army brat, his family toured Germany and Japan before settling in El Paso in 1973. Initially a Communications Major at UTEP, a radio internship at KPAS-FM 94, the PASS launched his broadcasting career. He can be heard as the morning news anchor on KTEP during NPR's Morning Edition, and Friday evenings at 10 pm as the host of Friday Night Blues.
