A local non-profit dedicated to teaching filmmaking skills to borderland filmmakers has received national attention this month: Star Central Studios Learning Center. Founded in 2022 to create training and educational resources for residents hoping to acquire technical skills in filmmaking, Star Central Studios was recognized at a conference in Washington, D.C. Join host Charles Horak as he welcomes President Gilbert Jorgenson, and Chief Marketing Officer, Jennifer Cedillo to talk about what they do and how they support filmmakers in El Paso.

Charles Horak III

Since 2004, Charles Horak has been the host of the long-running radio program, On Film, creating more than 1,000 programs dedicated to film reviews, filmmaker interviews and discussions of cinema history and industry advancement. He is a voting member of the Critics Choice Association and board member of the Texas Archive of the Moving Image.

Sam Cassiano

Sam Cassiano is a native Californian who spent his formative years in the Bay Area. An army brat, his family toured Germany and Japan before settling in El Paso in 1973. Initially a Communications Major at UTEP, a radio internship at KPAS-FM 94, the PASS launched his broadcasting career. He can be heard as the morning news anchor on KTEP during NPR's Morning Edition, and Friday evenings at 10 pm as the host of Friday Night Blues.
