Rubi Orozco is a poet, narrative writer, and environmental writer working at the intersection of food and language. She studied public health and poetry in community and academic institutions, including UC Berkeley and UTEP and with elders throughout the US and Mexico.
Orozco’s writing supports the food sovereignty movement, and as a storyteller she works with our community to understand and practice traditional Mexican heritage food ways. Her work at La Semilla Food Center cultivates a vision of a vibrant food system that prioritizes community and environmental health through the crafting and centering of narratives that uplift community dignity and promote equity and justice.
