Dr. Chuck Ambler

utep.edu

On this week’s episode of We ARE UT, Keith Pannell sits down with Dr. Chuck Ambler, Professor Emeritus and UTEP Ombuds Representative, to discuss what an Ombudsman is and why we have it at UT El Paso.

Dr. Chuck Ambler is a Recipient of the PhD in African history from Yale University, he has authored or edited three books. He has also been a visiting scholar at the University of Oxford; the School of Oriental and African Studies, the University of London; the University of Zambia; and Nairobi University. After being unsure about the need for the service, Dr. Ambler has been actively involved in meeting with visitors as an Ombud.

Ombuds Services provide a safe space for faculty members to address issues or concerns related to their employment with the University without fear or reprisal. Informal and confidential (except for when there appears to be imminent risk of serious harm) they assist faculty in identifying and evaluating available options and developing strategies to resolve issues and concerns.
