Former school administration staff, also former History professor, Charles H. Ambler sits down with Keith Pannell to discuss how his late-highschool-early-college interest in History came to a full circle when he witnessed a former professor take over her class with such a passion that he ended up majoring in History; Dr. Ambler also opens the door to take us in a time travel through his career in the University of Texas at El Paso and how he ended up becoming an Emeritus professor and also a faculty ombuds person and what the skill set for both of these roles is.

Charles Ambler focuses on 19th and 20th century Africa. He is currently Dean of the Graduate School. Recipient of the PhD in African history from Yale University, he has authored or edited three books. He has been a visiting scholar at the University of Oxford; the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London; the University of Zambia; and Nairobi University.
