Songs We Love: Jeen, 'Everywhere I Go'

Jeen O'Brien's debut solo album, Tourist, is out June 30th.

Singer Jeen O'Brien has been around for a while, making music with a number of artists. She and Brendan Canning of Broken Social Scene are in a band together called Cookie Duster. Don't ask me what a cookie duster is — I have no idea.

O'Brien, performing here solo as Jeen, offers a hybrid Sharon Van Etten/Lisa Loeb '90s throwback of a song in "Everywhere I Go." It's one of the more restrained songs from her upcoming debut solo album, Tourist, out June 30.

The album goes in a lot of different directions, ranging from acoustic guitar to more gnarled rock sounds, and some of that is captured on "Everywhere I Go," which sounds wistful and breezy. It's a song about the people in your life who remind you to "burn it bright."
