New Music: Elisa Coia, 'These Days'

Elisa Coia's EP These Days comes out in September 2015.

Rhode Island singer-songwriter Elisa Coia has a room-silencing voice, but she's not afraid of machined gloss. It's the combination of timeless vocal talent and a millennial's ease with technological flourishes that makes this R&B newcomer's latest single, "These Days," take flight.

It's a busy song. Thick, glossy production cycles in new sounds and effects to form a well-cushioned nest Coia's voice can soar over. It works for Coia, whose debut EP, also called These Days, is set to be released later this month. (A date hasn't been announced.) Displaying her vocal chops and an ease with complex production that sounds young and classic at once, it's like she's handing in a well-seasoned resume. This is a heady introduction to a hugely promising talent, one worth inviting to a second interview.
