Vincenzo Bellini: Zaira
Valle d'Itria Festival, Martina Franca

Piacenza Verdi Opera Chorus
Giacomo Sagripanti, conductor

CAST: Saioa Hernandez (Zaira); Enea Scala (Corasmino); Simone Alberghini (Orosmane); Anna Malavasi (Nerestano); Abramo Rosalen (Lusignano); Michela Antenucci (Fatima); Valeri Turmanov (Meledor); Matteo Falcier (Castiglione)

Zaira was Bellini's fifth opera, and the first of his scores to get a somewhat cool reception at its premiere. Still, its tragic, cross-cultural story has particular resonance in today's world. This production, from one if Italy's premiere music festivals, features stirring performances by a distinguished international cast.
