Lisa Levinson is the director of the Sustainable Activism Campaign for In Defense of Animals (IDA), an international animal rights and rescue organization dedicated to protecting the rights, welfare and habitats of animals.  Levinson discusses the stress that affects many activists in their work to protect and rescue animals - they often witness abuse and cruelty that could make it difficult to carry out their mission.  IDA offers mentorships, retreats, and spiritual programs that can help activists deal with burnout, trauma, and emotional distress.
