Kerbel explains how regular chemotherapy for cancer patients often involves a "maximum tolerated dose" of treatment, which often taxes the patient and requires several days of recovery before the next treatment. With metronomic chemotherapy, researchers hope to lower the dose of drugs and make the dosage more frequent.
