Democrats Márquez and Ortega share stances on State Board of Education primary race

EL PASO, Texas (KTEP) - Early voting in the May 24th primaries ends Friday and El Paso voters have choices to make at the state and county level. One race is the Democratic primary for the State Board of Education District 1 seat. Candidates Laura Márquez and Melissa Ortega are on the ballot in the primary for this Tuesday’s election. The winner will face Republican Michael Stevens in the November general election.

Both candidates spoke with KTEP on Friday morning to discuss issues in the state including teacher shortages, curriculum for students and charter school expansion. The following is the full recorded discussion.
