Tim Z. Hernandez in conversation with Dino Chiecchi

Host Tim Z. Hernandez welcomes the 2023 Jack Douglas Award recipient, Eraldo “Dino” Chiecchi. He is a reporter, journalist, and the author of the book, "Josue: A Young Man's Life Lost to Suicide."

Dino Chiecchi is currently an associate professor of practice for the School of Journalism & Mass Communication at Texas State University. He earned his undergraduate degree in Journalism and his Master of Fine Arts Degree in Creative Writing from the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP).

The following paragraph is an excerpt from the book's description:
"Josue was the one to make sure everyone was doing well, cared about their concerns, and assured all was well. He had plans to ultimately join the Marine Corps. He joined the Young Marines, an unaffiliated group in El Paso, Texas, to prepare for a military life. He excelled at all he did and showed leadership and made great friends. But one morning – while his mother was in the hospital for a difficult appendectomy - Josue’s body was found on an Interstate 10 frontage road not far from where he lived..."
