Rosa Fitzpatrick grew up in Lima Peru. She considers herself the re-connection link for her family, her father has Irish roots and her mother's family has ties to Spain. As a youth, she constantly asked "Why?" which led her to science. Dr. Fitzpatrick discusses her career with Keith Pannell on We Are UT El Paso and her study of the laws of physics, the Goldilocks zone and aerosols or particulars suspended in fluids. She enjoys her role as a scientist and an educator and motivator for minority groups.
Dr. Rosa Fitzgerald is a Professor in Physics. She obtained an M.S in Physics from Adelphi University, N.Y. and a Ph.D. in Physics from the University of California, Riverside. She is currently the UTEP representative of a NOAA consortium of Universities throughout the U.S, the UTEP/NCAR representative and an NCAR Member of the Educational Advisory Panel . At UTEP she started an Atmospheric Physics research group approximately 16 years ago and a newly created Atmospheric under-graduate Physics concentration, which have opened new career avenues for physics graduates in an expanding and marketable field.
