Remembering pianist and poet Alfred Brendel

Alfred Brendel, the Austrian pianist known as a “musician’s musician,” died at his home in London. Brendel was widely praised for his cerebral, lucid interpretations of standard classical repertoire, including recordings of sonatas by Mozart and Beethoven.
