The Drone Enthusiasts of El Paso (DEEP) has announced a change of location for its upcoming October Fly-In, scheduled for Saturday, October 24, 2026, from 9:00 to 11:00 AM.

Originally scheduled to take place at the San Elizario Placita, the event has been relocated due to a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) flight restriction affecting the original location. Rather than cancel the gathering, DEEP organizers have moved the event to Stolley’s Riverwalk, 311 W. Borderland Road in Canutillo, Texas.

The October gathering, appropriately titled “Drones and Donuts!”, invites drone pilots, photography enthusiasts, and anyone curious about unmanned aircraft to spend a morning flying, sharing experiences, and learning more about drone technology. Donuts will be part of the morning’s activities.

“Temporary flight restrictions are something every drone pilot needs to understand and respect,” said DEEP organizer Tim Holt. “We were looking forward to flying in San Elizario, but the FAA restriction made that impossible. Fortunately, we found another location where we can get together and enjoy a morning of flying.”

DEEP Fly-Ins are informal gatherings designed to bring together experienced pilots and newcomers. Participants can exchange flying tips, discuss equipment, demonstrate their drones, and learn about safe and responsible flight operations.

All participating drone pilots must possess a current FAA TRUST (The Recreational UAS Safety Test) completion certificate. Recreational drone pilots are required to complete this free online safety course and carry proof of completion when flying.

The event is free and open to the public. Visitors do not need to own a drone to attend. Anyone interested in learning about drones, aerial photography, or recreational flying is encouraged to stop by.
