Magoffin Home Brain Trust Bag Lunch Lecture: Adobe at the Pass with Victor Hurtado
Brown Bag Brain Trust Lecture: "Adobe at the Pass – Documenting the Mission Valley in 1936"
Join us at the Magoffin Home for a special look at Adobe at the Pass, Preservation Texas’ newest exhibit currently on view at the West Texas Heritage Center. Preservation Texas’s powerful exhibit features striking black-and-white photographs taken in 1936 by architect Marvin Eickenroht as part of the Historic American Buildings Survey—the nation’s first federal preservation initiative. Our guest speaker, Victor Hurtado, West Texas Program Officer for Preservation Texas, will share the story behind the photographs and the HABS program’s impact on preserving our region’s heritage. He will also share about the mission and goals of Preservation Texas, especially the new West Texas Heritage Center. Bring your lunch and your curiosity—this is a conversation for anyone who loves adobe, El Paso history, or a good story pulled from the archives.
