Kevin is a birder and is familiar with classic birds that are common to the area. In this episode they discuss hawks, doves and other species that at one point were unusual to the Chihuahuan Desert but have now become common. They also explain nuisance birds that people find annoying and beautiful birds that seem to be AI generated. Daniel Carey-Whalen is the director of the Centennial Museum and Chihuahuan Desert Gardens and Kevin Floyd is the Botanical Curator.
Desert Diaries is recorded in the KTEP Public Media studios and is a production of The University of Texas at El Paso Division of Marketing and Communications.
