The El Paso Independent School District School Board accepted a voluntary separation agreement from superintendent Diana Sayavedra. The city and county of El Paso will open cooling centers as temperatures are expected to reach triple digits this weekend. Residents can go to public libraries for relief from the heat. A former Afghan army soldier in the process of applying for asylum in the U.S. was arrested by ICE at his Texas home.
