Without discussion, the El Paso Public Service Board approved using $1 million to conduct a feasibility study to expand a treatment plant. A trade group for Texas doctors says it will oppose a bill this legislative session that would let more nurse practitioners in the state serve as primary care doctors. Medicaid covers half of all births in Texas. During pregnancy, many rely on that Medicaid coverage to access everything from doctor’s appointments to prenatal vitamins.
