El Paso’s city government extended an emergency ordinance for 30 more days that allows its employees to assist nonprofits in caring for asylum seekers. A top Mexican immigration official was charged with the deaths and injuries of dozens of migrants at the Juárez detention center in March. Early voting for May 6th elections begins today and will last until May 2nd. Polls are open between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. A school security bill passed a major milestone in the Texas House today (Monday) after extensive debate.
