The Texas legislature allocated $65 million to initiate the construction of a comprehensive cancer center on the Medical Center of the Americas campus in South Central El Paso. Construction may happen as soon as next year. On Tuesday, the chamber passed bills to curb migrant smuggling and reduce property taxes. The Texas State Artist Committee selected San Elizario’s Gaspar Enriquez as one of the state’s top artists this year.
