Texas governor Greg Abbott sent state troopers to El Paso in December as part of Operation Lone Star. That’s the governor’s nearly $10 billion border enforcement effort. Since arriving –DPS troopers have been involved in multiple high-speed chases while targeting smugglers. And those living in areas where the pursuits have ended in crashes say that’s making El Paso streets less safe.
