El Paso Mayor Oscar Leeser broke a tie between the City Council today that would’ve delayed the hiring of a new city manager until February during today’s meeting. Today was the last day for candidates looking to run for a City Council seat this November to file with the city clerk. El Paso’s congresswoman Veronica Escobar will serve as one of four co-chairs of the Democratic National Convention this week in Chicago. A group of Texas Congressional members say they will oppose Governor Abbott’s executive order forcing hospitals to collect data on migrants.
