This coming Tuesday, the El Paso City Council will vote on whether to support a recommendation from federal planners to eliminate commercial traffic from the Bridge of the Americas port of entry in South Central. The El Paso Independent School District school board unanimously approved a nearly $2.1 million dollar contract with a consultant for a potential bond initiative next year. More than 60 elected officials in Texas have requested that the U.S. Justice Department monitor the November election in the state's 5 most populous counties.
