El Paso Congresswoman Veronica Escobar and other Democratic members of Congress are objecting to the Trump administration’s plan to use military bases—including Fort Bliss— as immigrant detention facilities. City officials anticipate a $9.4 million dollar deficit in spending for next year’s budget based on preliminary figures from the city’s budget office. El Paso is in distress. That’s the message a group of residents wanted to send by
hanging an enormous American flag upside-down from Scenic Drive Sunday.
