A total of 43 employees at The Socorro Independent School District will be laid off this year after a vote from the school board Monday night. Metals company Feeport-McMoran committed $7 million dollars to the University of Texas at El Paso’s new Mining Engineering degree program. The Texas Senate heard a bill MONDAY that would expand the requirements for law enforcement agencies to submit individuals suspected of gang activity into statewide databases.
