The federal government is spending more than a billion dollars to build the largest immigration detention camp in the country at Fort Bliss. Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick has put his weight behind 16 bills for the state’s current special session, which started on Monday. Teachers at the Clint Independent School District will see a pay raise this upcoming school year. NPR’s President and CEO Katherine Maher says the public broadcaster will be cutting its own budget to help member stations, after Congress took back federal funding.
