An El Paso family sued the city and over 10 police officers in federal court over a high profile arrest that ended in the death of a man last year. The county medical examiner’s office determined the cause of Hernandez’s death was homicide due to asphyxia from chest compression during law enforcement subdual. The NAACP El Paso Branch has called for an independent investigation into a pattern of in-custody deaths at the local, state and federal level. Governor Greg Abbott is weighing in on the controversy over Immigration and Customs Enforcements actions in Minneapolis.
