Two El Paso City Council representatives have sponsored a discussion item for next week’s meeting over how to keep ICE from opening more detention centers within city limits. An El Paso judge recused herself from cases involving migrant children after attorneys alleged she displayed prejudice against them in court. In Texas, immigration enforcement has become a major issue in the race to be this year’s Democratic nominee for U.S. Senate. An ICE detention center in South Texas was the scene of clashes Wednesday after a peaceful two-mile march escalated between protesters and state troopers.
