Strong winds brought down trees, disrupted power service and closed the landfill early today. There is also intrigue statewide after Republican state lawmakers redrew districts last year to try to flip the Democratic-held seats. One of the most hotly contested congressional races in Texas will be in the redrawn 9th District. El Paso Water has a planned temporary water shut off for Northeast communities.
