Wendy's customers wait an average of 2 minutes and 10 seconds for their meals, according to an industry magazine. That's 20 seconds faster than runner up Taco Bell. And as it turns out, Burger King is not the king when it comes to speed. An order there takes an average 3 minutes and 21 seconds.

A disgraced political upstart, expelled from the governing party for insubordination, has redirected South Africa's spotlight on himself as a champion of striking mineworkers. Once an ardent supporter of the president, he now denounces him as a hopeless leader. In turn, the rebel politician is facing alleged money laundering charges.

30 Years In Jail — At A Minimum — For Seemingly Unrepentant Sandusky
The convicted child molester was at the center of a scandal that rocked Penn State University. A recording attributed to him was posted online Monday. The voice repeats what Sandusky has said all along — that he's innocent — and tries to shift blame.
Couple Take Marriage Vows While Running Marathon
The bride wore white and her veil was attached to a baseball cap. The groom wore a tuxedo T-shirt. It was a race that sparked their romance. So the Oregon couple decided to run 20 miles of the Portland Marathon before stopping at a park to exchange vows. The newlyweds then ran the final 6.2 miles.

Graphic novelist Chris Ware's latest, Building Stories, is a collection in many formats, following the (mostly) sad and lonely lives of the inhabitants of a Chicago brownstone. But reviewer Glen Weldon says the work is colorful, intricate and ultimately beautiful.
Debate Heats Up About Contentious Bird Flu Research
Because of fears that lab-altered bird flu viruses could cause a deadly pandemic if they ever escaped the lab, scientists agreed to a moratorium on mutant H5N1 flu research eight months ago. Now top scientists in the field continue the debate about the work, publishing six commentaries for and against the end of the moratorium.
Sandusky Sentenced For Penn State Assaults
A Pennsylvania judge sentenced former assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky to between 30 and 60 years in prison for the sexual abuse of young boys. There is virtually no way he could get out of prison before he dies a natural death. Sandusky maintains he is innocent.
