  • Actor Jack Palance, known for his haltingly intense speaking style and dozens of roles in Western and noir films, has died. After years of playing the heavy in Hollywood, Palance became a hit in comedy films late in life. At 70, he won an Oscar for his over-the-top role in the Billy Crystal film City Slickers.

  • Comedian and actor Will Ferrell talks about his new film Stranger Than Fiction. Ferrell plays an accountant who finds that his life has a voiceover that only he can hear. It turns out he's the subject of a novel, and that the writer plans to kill him. Ferrell became famous as a cast member on Saturday Night Live from 1995 to 2002, and has gone on to star in movies such as Old School, Elf and Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby.
  • Slate contributor Seth Stevenson reviews the new -- and very unusual -- public service announcement from the American Red Cross promoting blood donation.
  • A full-size Italian Baroque organ -- a 17th-century marvel with 600 pipes and more than 2,000 parts -- is on display at the University of Rochester's Memorial Art Gallery. It's the only organ of its kind in the Americas.
