Texas Tech is creating opportunities for students in dentistry in El Paso

Richard Dayoub sits down to talk with Dr. Richard Lange and Dr. Richard Black from Texas Tech Health Science Center. In this two-part series they discuss the need for a dental school in El Paso. They talk about their approach to starting an innovative dental program by visiting other programs across the country. Furthermore, they talk about the experience students get by shadowing dentists in the community.

Dr. Richard Lange is the President of Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in El Paso and Dean of the Paul L. Foster School of Medicine. Dr. Richard Black is Dean of the Woody L. Hunt School of Dental Medicine at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center.

In the second part of these series Dr. Black and Dr. Lange talk about the support from funders and the state legislature. The medical school is about to grow to 600 students and they discuss the selection process of students. They point out the need for physicians in this area as well as residencies for their students.
