Amy Lanasa and the Creative Media Institute at NMSU

Las Cruces in New Mexico State University is home to the Creative Media Institute for Film and Digital Arts (CMI). The program has training and graduating students with the skills needed to work in myriad moving image industries. Charles Horak welcomes Amy Lanasa, Professor and Academic Department Head of CMI, to discuss the history and how the program has been growing at innovating its teaching methods.

The first semester the program opened was in the Fall of 2006. From the Digital Film Making area to Animation, Visual Effects, a Graduate Creative Writing Program. The CMI program has a broad view of the visual and creative arts integrated into its curriculum.
