El Paso lost poet and publisher Bobby Byrd on July 11, 2022 at the age of 80. Together with his wife Lee, they founded Cinco Puntos Press where they raised the profile of books and people from the border, Mexican-American culture, and bilingualism.
They recently sold their imprint to Lee and Low books who continues the tradition of Cinco Puntos Press, including their website cincopuntos.com.
