Jeannette Walls is a journalist and author graduating from Barnard College. She would then start her career as a journalist in New York for 25 years, writing for the New York Magazine, MSNBC, and Esquire. Since then, Walls has been a New York Times bestseller for more than 8 years and is also the author of bestselling novels, The Silver Star and Half Broke Horses.
Duke Kincaid is the biggest man in a small town and has a daughter named Sallie. She remembers that her mother tragically died from an argument with Duke when she was young. Years later, Duke is remarried to a woman who has a son named Eddie. Sallie tries to teach Eddie to be like her father, however, things turn wrong as her teachings lead to an accident that casts Sallie out. She would then return 9 years later and is faced with many challenges as she enters a world full of conflict.
