Lincoln’s God

Publisher: Viking

Joshua Zeitz is a writer for Politico Magazine and has taught American History and politics at Cambridge University and at Princeton University. Zeitz’s work has included writing for both the New York Times and the Washington Post. His most notable works include his New York Times bestseller, Lincoln’s Boys.

This is the story of Abraham Lincoln and his journey from spiritual skeptic to America's first evangelical Christian presidential believer. This was a movement and transition that he started in which religion helped millions of Northerners interpret the carnage and political upheaval of the 1850s and 1860s. Lincoln harnessed popular religious enthusiasm to build broad-based support for a political party and a cause leading to being one of the greatest presidents in the US.
