On this edition of The Weekend, Louie Saenz talks with Corinne Joy Brown and Blanca Carrasco from the Society for Crypto-Judaic Studies. Also on the program, from the Center for Inter-American Studies, Director Dr. Josiah Heyman and Research Scientist Mark Hurado. The Society for Crypto-Judaic Studies is requesting proposals for presentations at its 33rd Annual Conference, Sunday, August 13 through Tuesday, August 15, 2023, in El Paso, Texas.

Crypto-Judaism is the secret adherence to Judaism while publicly professing to be of another faith; practitioners are referred to as "crypto-Jews." They discuss how descendants discovered their identity and heritage. Furthermore they discuss food and spices that form part of the experience.
