Exit Stage Left | Playlist ♬ Vol. I

KTEP presents “Exit Stage Left”, an hour-long music special hosted by Daisy Morales and Anthony Piña. Join us this Saturday, December 31st at 5:00 PM MST for a special New Year’s Eve show that looks back on the year with songs released by our talented local musical artists.

• Shadow Valley - Joy
  Shadow Valley has experimented with many sounds throughout the years and have actually played this song live in the past but never settled on how it sounded or was satisfied with previous recordings of it until this year when they finally figured out how they wanted it to sound. They got around to releasing a finalized version of this song as well as a lyric video for it. If you can, you should check these guys out as they will play a complete original setlist that mixes genres.

• Wolves or Lions - Introspection
  According to Cesar Wero Valadez, “Introspection is a song by wolves or lions that we wrote to get perspective of how our life has been and how the common denominator to our failures is our own mistakes and the voices on our head but that can't and won't stop us.”
  

• Fusebox - Alight
  Fusebox has been around for a few years now, they have been busy performing in and around the borderland as well as playing out in Arizona. This year they released this single from the recently released album New Earth. Try to see this band live if you can, they won’t disappoint.

• Dekstar & F.G.L. MC - A Volar
  This track is refreshing to listen to as the beat is different from the typical beats used by many artists these days. The flow in this song is smooth and is rapped entirely in spanish. Keep an eye and ear out for these guys.

• A Minor in Cryptozoology - Anime
  This punk band has been very active in the scene lately, they know how to entertain the crowd with a humorous set full of songs that will really rock you. If you get a chance to witness these guys live, you should definitely catch them. According to the guitarist, Charlie Drama, this song is about “Watching anime with your girlfriend until she one day finds out you cheated on her. Oopsie.”

• One Star Day - Glow (Ryan’s Song)
  One Star Day is a lot newer, and was recently featured on Fitfam on Instagram, a page that showcases interesting things around El Paso. Why was this band featured there while others weren’t? The drum solo in the beginning and the beat that carries the song is performed by an 8 year old. This act originally started out as a father/son project but they got a bit of help from their friends to help create this song.

• Manos - The El Paso, Texas Boogie
  If you’re looking for a fun quick song to listen to while you host a New Years Party, this song will be the right one to play. It’s reminiscent of a 70s punk style with a bit of ska thrown into the song.
  

• Mika Elis - Limerencia
  This is a fun electronic song that sounds reminiscent of the 80’s new wave, According to Mika Elis "Limerencia is an upbeat song about chemical love, it also has a feeling of hope for the future with a touch of nostalgia for what could have been possible.”
  

• WOX & Cosmic Lloyd - Calling
  Calling is a smooth and mellow tune by WOX & Cosmic Lloyd, an interesting fact about this song is that it is sung in both English and Spanish.

• Den of Evil - Shots
  This act is self labeled as Nescore and Cybergrind, there are no vocals in this song, but if you are interested in a heavier sound that experiments with other sounds then this will take you for a cyber trip. It is a fun song as it includes game console noises that might sound familiar to you.
  

• Ojo Malo - Crow Man
  You may actually know Ojo Malo since they used to go by the name Brother Strange up until recently. This song “Crow Man” utilizes a slow heavy riff which plays out under the thick clean vocals to create this sludge metal piece. Ojo Malo may just be the most well known sludge metal band in El Paso.
  

• Valiant Blues - Sweetness
  “Sweetness” sounds like it belongs in the 70s with the keyboard in the background constantly affecting the mood. The vocals help turn this song into a mellow tune that would be perfect to listen to during a mellow night drive.

• Christina Ramirez - Summer Drizzle
  This piano piece is by a talented young lady named Christina Ramirez. Her whole life has revolved around music and her main instrument is of course the piano. Apart from releasing solo pieces such as this one, she is also part of Holo’s Piano Collective on UTEP and El Paso Pro Musica. Enjoy this piece of piano music and let the keys take you on a musical journey.

• Mia Antifa - Letting Go
  If you want to catch Mia Antifa play live, you should try going to the Music Gallery as they have performed there several times. Definitely try to catch this group live as they will give a high energy show and leave you wanting more. Maybe one day we’ll see them open up for the likes of Blink-182.

• Chief DannyBoy - I Will Always Love You
  Here we have a 22 year old musician named Chief Danny Boy who is based out of Horizon City. He recently released this acoustic ballad. It’s a mellow one, but it is a great listen full of good harmonies and smooth guitar playing.

• As Hope - Lucky Here
  As Hope is a bit newer to the El Paso music scene but they have already played many shows here throughout the borderland and have released a lot of material in this one year alone. This song is just one of many that you can check out on their Spotify.

• Single Brass Faction- This Train
  Single Brass Faction has seemed busy this year, they have released many songs and performed throughout the Sun City. They have also been interviewed by Beyond The Stage as well as have given a performance on that same show.

• Ronin - Hello
  Ronin is brand new to El Paso’s music scene but they already have created songs that help them stand above the rest. The beat, the lyrics, and vocal delivery help elevate this song to a new height. The musical elements are heavily inspired by the likes of Nujabes, but they managed to take that style and make it their own.

• American Sellout - Earthbound
  American Sellout was formed from the ruins of another band called Crash. The frontman Daniel Xavier has been keeping busy with this project as he has performed a lot throughout El Paso, Arizona, and even California. He also is the mind behind the EP Kings of Metal that happen each month.

• HAAZMATZ - D.R.U.G.S
  This band is unfortunately no longer together, but you can still experience their sound through this song which is about “losing touch with reality and how beautiful things in the world seem to be until you start getting the waves of sobriety and realize how dark things can get. A moment of bliss you can say.”

• Second Nature - The End
  This song is by a band called Second Nature, an interesting fact about this band is that it is fronted by KLAQ’s Daniel Paulus. Second Nature was the project he created during a period of his life where he really didn’t have a lot of creativity, so he used this to project to push him to be creative. This song, The End, was created during a time where he felt so intensely stressed out, as if everything was coming down on him.

• Elkaly Man - No Eres La Primera
  Here is a reggaeton song that displays El Paso a bit in the music video. It is a catchy upbeat song that was written and produced by Elkaly Man.

• Solano Grip - Throu The Process (Youtube)

  With this hip-hop piece, Solano pictures the dramatic and raw picture of what it is to become an artist in a tough world that often feels like it is set to make you fail at any cost. With a self-reflection letter, if you will, Solano Grip unveils this deep piece that describe his pain, anger and take us through the lessons learned here in the Sun City.

• Ivvas - How Far I’ve Come
  The song has a dark and moody vibe to it. It starts off acoustically and crescendos into a hard rock style at the end. According to Richard Mendoza, “It is about the apocalypse and the thought as to whether we could all change anything of our past and if it would make a difference in the end.”
  

• The Dizzy Bangers - Cubs
  This band is the main band for Richard Mendoza, he plays bass for them. According to Richard, “The single CUBS was released in October of this past year. It's a hard rock track that has gotten some great compliments. Someone once told us that we filled a void left by the Stone Temple Pilots.”
  

• Plasma Center Princess - Mammals (For a While)
  Plasma Center Princess has been in the scene for a few years now, but recently came back from an unexpected hiatus. This track is one of the songs they worked on while they were away, the song is full of solos and licks that keep the listener intrigued. Aside from the instruments, the verse is just as catchy as the chorus which is bound to stick with the listener.

• TheOdicy- Automation Phenomenon
  With Automaton Phenomenon they called the rise of artificial intelligence with this smokey, future space Jazz Bar-esque tune. This song will place you into a futuristic setting when you listen.
