Valiant Blues is a project that was conceptualized through the 2020 pandemic and finally brought to fruition in the summer of 2021. Valiant Blues has been performing throughout the diverse El Paso music and art scene since. Their music is a blend of indie rock with influences of latin, jazz, and psychedelic pop.

The song “Yourself in a Shell” was a collaborative effort between Valiant Blues and Pablo Vermell. Pablo is a musician/songwriter from Brazil. He is an up and coming artist who has worked with big name musicians and bands from Brazil. In the winter of 2022, Pablo Vermell and Valiant Blues began writing and finishing a song based on a phone voice memo Pablo sent as reference. From there, Valiant Blues helped produce and record the instrumental and vocals for the song. The track was mixed in Brazil and then mastered by an engineer that works in Sonic Ranch. The song is about coming to terms with ageism and the struggle of assimilating to society as we get older. Triggering nostalgic memories of when you were younger, full of aspiration, and without the true weight of the world on your shoulders.

This project was started during the pandemic in 2020 by Jerry García and Alfredo Gómez when they decided to try and compose a song through video-call. After they realized that they could make music that sounded decent, they decided to invite a third member, Jorge Montoya. The song is titled El Mar and it is the first song written and composed by Jorge Montoya in which he plays most of the instruments except for the drums, electric drums, and congas which were played by Alfredo Gómez. Jorge wrote this song while on a cruise-ship vacation with his family where he had been reminiscing about a book he had read. This book exposed the self-destructive habits that a person may have with alcohol, drugs, or relationships. The lyrics explore these ideas in a synth-heavy orchestration along with funk inspirations and percussive rhythms from the Caribbean. El Mar is set to be released within the coming months of 2023.

  • Dakota Ave - Soul Fragments

This song talks about struggles of self doubt and how the lead-singer’s now-wife helped him to get through his life with happiness and love when he wasnt able to do it on his own. He says “it doesnt look like your typical romantic song” but they are so happy with the way it turned out that it has become their favorite so far; Soul Fragments is also accompanied by some killer artwork so if you are curious to peek, go ahead and click on their links, we are sure you’ll become their fan.
