Don’t Melt Your Skin this Summer! (Practicing Sun Safety)

With extreme Ultraviolet (UV) rays back in El Paso, it is crucial to practice sun safety this summer. UV Rays which emit invisibly from the sun, tanning beds, and sun lamps can expose your skin to cancers and irreversible damage to skin cells. The risk for skin damage can begin when UV Rays reach a 3 or higher on the UV index. With El Paso’s UV ranging between 10 to 13 (Extreme) throughout the summer, practicing sun safety is crucial for El Paso across the borderland. With that said, at KTEP we have gathered several Sun Safety tips that will keep you protected while you engage in outside activities such as gardening, working, birdwatching, or while attempting to survive UTEP’s (workout approved) “Cardiac Hill".”
