2025 Compassionate Thanksgiving Dinner

2025 Compassionate Thanksgiving Dinner

Want to embrace a more caring, fulfilling way of life? Join the Veg Society of El Paso for their annual Compassionate Thanksgiving Dinner at Sunset Parlor on Saturday, November 15. The event will feature an entertaining and uplifting talk by Dr. Matthew Halteman, fun raffle items, and a traditional, delicious, plant-based Thanksgiving feast catered by Desert Bloom.

Matthew is a professor of philosophy at Calvin University and a fellow at the Oxford Centre for Animal Ethics. His work is driven by deep commitments to human flourishing, animal freedom, food systems transformation, and communal cooperation to realize as much truth, beauty, and goodness as we collectively can! As an author, teacher, and advocate, he explores how the choices we make around food can shape a more compassionate, sustainable, and joyful world. His new book, Hungry Beautiful Animals, is a heartfelt, humane, and even hilarious account of why rule-obsessed vegan practices fail, and how a focus on flourishing can lead to an abundant future for everyone. This work is more than just philosophy; it’s a joyful invitation to move beyond the typical shame-and-blame, and embrace a more caring, fulfilling way of life.

Come alone, or bring along a friend or family member. It's an evening you won't want to miss!
