Drawing from the NMSU Art Museum’s extensive collection of over 2,200 Mexican retablos, Trinities of Heaven and Earth explores the spiritual and cultural importance of these sacred images. Retablos, small devotional paintings traditionally displayed in Mexican homes, served as vital expressions of Catholic faith and values within the household. The imagery of the Holy Family conveys blessings related to family life, while depictions of the Holy Trinity invoke divine guidance. Together, these themes explore the connection between sacred devotion and earthly life, bridging the divine and the domestic.
The exhibition will open on March 21, 2025, at 5:30 pm in the Margie and Bobby Rankin Retablo Gallery, and will be open until March 7, 2026. The museum is open Tues-Sat from 10 AM - 4 PM.

El Paso del Norte Proud will be on view from Saturday, August 9- Sunday August 31, 2025. All are welcome to celebrate at the opening reception on Saturday, August 9, 2025 2:00-4:00 pm. Proceeds from sold work in the showcase benefit the artist and the Museum.
The International Museum of Art is dedicated to making art accessible to all, offering free admission, exhibitions of local artists, and a rich collection of regional and international artifacts. Thanks to the generous support of our members and donors, we continue to foster cultural understanding and promoting the visual arts in El Paso.
Celebrate joy and happiness during The International Museum of Art’s 3rd annual Member Showcase.
As “The People’s Museum,” we are supported by our donors, community partners, and members like you. We began hosting our Member Showcase to highlight the creativity and talents of our supporters. This year’s show is titled Joy Abounds and is about celebrating the joy that we have in our lives and community.
We want to showcase the people, places, and moments that bring us happiness. Artists were asked to submit work that exemplifies their definition of joy or explore what happiness means to them. Joy Abounds will be on view from July 26 through August 31, 2025. All are welcome to the opening reception on Saturday, July 26 from 2:00-4:00 pm.

The International Museum of Art is thrilled to announce that the Call to Artists for our Sun Bowl Art Exhibit is now open!
The IMoA is proud to be “The People’s Museum” and have the distinct opportunity to showcase local art, especially through our annual Sun Bowl Art Exhibit. The Sun Bowl Art Exhibit is a part of the Tony the Tiger Sun Bowl, celebrating the artistic excellence of our community. Beginning in 1949 as the Sun Carnival Art Exhibit, it is one of the longest running juried art shows in the American Southwest. This year’s Sun Bow Art Exhibit will be another stunning showcase of our region’s artistic vision, offering the best of our local artists.
The Sun Bowl is open to all artists 18 years or older who want to showcase their best. Artists are encouraged to enter up to three (3) works of art in any media that they believe captures their creativity, artistic merit and vision. The deadline to enter is Wednesday, October 8, 2025. Entries can be submitted in person, via mail or online.
The 2025 Sun Bowl Art Exhibit will be on view from Thursday, November, 6, 2025 through Sunday, January 11, 2026. All are welcome at the opening ceremony on November 6, 2025 from 5:00 pm-8:00 pm.
