Daniela Ordaz
On-Air InternDaniela Ordaz is in charge of being an on-board operator and going on air for the Texas Standard and at times, Fresh Air. She is responsible for providing accurate weather and traffic reports, and local public service announcements, and making sure the show is running smoothly for all KTEP listeners.
Daniela is currently a student at The University of Texas at El Paso majoring in Multimedia Journalism and aiming to minor in Computer Science. She is also a member of the UTEP Debate team, where she has received awards for the Informative and Poetry categories.
Outside of KTEP, Daniela enjoys singing, makeup, writing, reading, voice acting, working with photography and film, and doing meditation and yoga. Daniela is interested in the aesthetics of the 60s, '70s, 80's, and 90s, and reading about different cultures of the world as well as their geography and history. In the future, Daniela aims to work as an anchor for a radio or news channel, in hopes of also getting more experience in audio engineering and audio video production.

In April, El Paso Human Services opened their first Poetry Night at Cafe Con Leche for the public to attend and perform their self made or published pieces in an open mic format. The idea was part of a project by Robert Jackson, who graduated in May with his master’s in Social Work.

In April, Daniela Ordaz spoke with Julie Newbold, Public Affairs Coordinator at El Paso Animal Services about her advocacy for pets to feel loved and safe in welcoming homes. During the awareness month they try to increase education but there is a team that works diligently year-round to make sure the campaign reaches people in the El Paso community. In this web story, we point out some of the initiatives.
