His book gives us an intimate view of the transformation of the Rio Grande region at the southern tip of the Rocky Mountain chain. This remote, sun-baked territory became a sometimes violent interchange of ideas, cultures and political systems. Sanchez also challenges us to question how much has really changed in our interactions today.
